Frequently Asked Questions

What waxes do you use?

We use Perron Rigot, a French specialist in depilatory waxes. With over 30 years of innovation and more than 20 patents behind them, Perron Rigot is constantly developing new formulas. The company holds the patent on formulas for low-temperature waxes and is the inventor of non-strip disposable wax. Perron Rigot offers a selection of Strip & Non Strip wax (including hypoallergenic wax) and an outstanding range of pre & post care products.

What's the difference in the waxes you use and how do you use them?

Both Strip (Warm wax) and Non strip (Known as either hard or hot wax) waxes are used for different parts of the body.

Strip wax is applied to the skin using a spatula and a paper or fabric strip is applied on top of the wax. The strip is rubbed firmly to adhere the wax to the strip. The skin is held taught and the strip is removed - removing strip, wax and hair. It can also be applied directly to the paper/fabric strip and then applied to the skin and hair. This wax is generally used in larger, less sensitive parts of the body

Non strip wax is applied directly to the skin and hair using a spatula and is the texture of honey. It is allowed to dry slightly. The wax shrink wraps to the hair as it dries and not to the skin. The skin is held taught and the wax is removed - removing both wax and hair. This wax is generally used in more sensitive areas.

What can I expect with my treatment?

When coming for your first appointment, you will be given a consultation form to complete. It just lets us know any conditions or allergies that may affect any treatments you plan to have. Especially if you are having a wax treatment and you've been using any glycolic peels or acne creams, as these thin the skin and can cause it to tear, also if you are taking blood thinning medication or if you have any health conditions i.e diabetes etc.

With all our new  clients we set enough time aside to deal with the consultation, the treatment and to discuss aftercare in more detail.

Your consultation form will be updated every time you visit for a treatment.

Your treatment will be discussed in detail and what to expect with your chosen treatment.

TRY NOT TO BE EMBARRASSED!

If you're having an intimate wax, you will be required to get naked from the waist down in most cases to get a perfect wax. So please, don't be embarrassed. We are professionals and have seen it all before. We pride ourselves on privacy and confidentiality at all times.

How long will being hair free last?

Everyone is different but you may notice a small amount of re-growth after a week or so. It can take up to 4 treatments for hair to get into a growth cycle that gives the best results.  We recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks to maintain your smooth appearance.

Does waxing hurt?

Yes a little bit. Every person has a different pain threshold and also experiences waxing differently, however if you maintain your waxing regularly, most find it easier as the hairs become thinner, lighter and more sparse after a few treatments. If your pain threshold is particularly low, a couple of painkillers half an hour prior to treatment tends to reduce any pain.

What happens if I'm late for my appointment or have to cancel at short notice?

We understand that things happen and emergencies arise, but we often have clients booked in before and after your appointment. You need to let us know ASAP that you may be running late, how long you expect to be etc or if you are unable to attend. Please note that if we have clients booked in after you and you arrive very late, this may result in having to cancel your appointment, offering you a reduced treatment time or alternative appointment at a later date. If you repeatedly cancel appointments at little or no notice, or if you don't attend without informing us at all, then you may not be offered any further appointments.

Offering a quality service to all our clients is extremely important to us.

Unfortunately, you may be required to pay a deposit when booking for a full body wax. This is due to a number of clients not arriving for their appointment and also not informing us that they cannot attend. As 5 hours are blocked for this treatment, it has a huge impact on both the business and other clients.

Bodily functions

Can I still have an intimate wax if I have my period?

Yes as long as you wear a tampon. Some women find that they may have a lower pain threshold whilst menstruating, so pain relief may be required 30 minutes prior to your appointment.

What happens if I get an erection during treatment?

It happens more often than you think !! It's the body's automatic response and an involuntary reaction, so no need to be overly embarrassed, we certainly will not be. All that happens is that you get the professional wax  you expected. Sometimes it can actually be helpful during waxing -as it helps to stretch the skin.

Please note all treatments are purely therapeutic and NOTHING else.
Under
NO circumstances do I offer ANY services of a sexual nature.
ANY inappropriate behaviour from ANY client will NOT be tolerated in any form.
Treatment will cease but you will still be charged for the full treatment.
Further appointment requests will be refused.
